Vehemence's "Helping the World to See" is a nearly perfect example of death metal. First off, it's extreme, naturally. Gutter vocals serve as harbingers of blasphemous doom (this CD really has the perfect title for a band, also perfectly named, given their anti-religious crusade). The music is heavy as hell, as death metal should be. It also has plenty of grooves, perfect for moshing or head bobbing, depending where you are (don't mosh in your car, it's dangerous and freaks your passengers out). PLUS, there's a surprising amount of melody running through Vehemence's music, making for yet another layer of listening interest. "Helping the World to See" is immediately engaging and stands firm as one of the top new death metal releases. Wicked!
