Cloaked In Doctrine (2)

Cloaked In Doctrine (2)

Ground Of Ruin hails from Ireland and have a few good demos behind them, and for some reason unknown to me, they're still unsigned. They are might not delivering they most original style of metal, though they are doing their melodic thrashy death metal really well, which the music on 'Cloaked In Doctrine' witnesses. But again, the scene within thrashy death metal is quite crowded these days, though I personally think this band is doing it better and more interesting than some of the bands, signed to some of the larger metal labels.

The band takes on the task quite melodious, blistering lead melodies are painting a lot of the sound picture, together with the great mix of a growl and scream. The rhythm is kept steady and interesting by the drummer, actually quite good drumming, not the most flashing nor fast play, but solid and with some good and fitting breaks, that spice it all up.

Good and to the point guitar driven old school death metal with a good portion of thrashing riffs and blows to the head by this Irish band. As written not the most original outfit on the planet earth, but they do their metal very well and deeply rooted in the classic metal scene and a passion of Dissection-esque melodies and built ups. They have written a good bunch of good songs throughout their career and they are transforming their energy and passion for the music, into the tunes and delivers the music very well, and it also seems like they have established themselves a solid fanbase with their demos and now this MCD. Labels, it's pick up time, these guys can hit it off!

A Danish metalhead on the way to become old, enjoys most types of metal, though brutality and darkness are mostly preferred,  and too modern takes on metal are not always positively looked upon. Have been writing about metal for 10 years in own and at other publications as Fishcomcollective, Ancient Ceremonies, Northern Shadows and now Corazine and the upcoming Terror Propaganda (might have forgotten a few, come and kick my arse!).
