PSP

Now here is a USP release that should make a lot of motherfuckers drool. Sam Raimi's Evil Dead universe has already had a healthy and successful crossover into the world of gaming with games based off the cult films garnering fans.

Now, one of Raimi's films itself is making the crossover into gameland. Those popular, coveted little PSP devices will now be mini silver screens for the presentation of what I personally think is the best film in the series, Evil Dead II.

As for the film itself, little really needs to be said. Maintaining the grueling, nonstop action and violence that was a trademark of the original Evil Dead nightmare, Raimi added to the grue-churning mix the element of over-the-top slapstick humor, creating what was both garishly gory and gutbustingly funny. Evil Dead II stands firmly as a solid bridge between the stomach-roiling terror of the first film and the Three Stooges meet Ray Harryhausen madness of Army of Darkness; it has all the spattering fun of the first and the goofball slapstick of the third.

Well, now DVD quality presentation of Raimi's cult classic is launching into your grubby little hands, provided you own a PSP, of course.

Technology really does get smaller and smaller but better and better, doesn't it? You don't have to have an entertainment center to indulge in some 5.1 stereo sound, because Evil Dead II is coming to eat your soul in stereo glory, summoned via the Necronomicon from the hellish bowels of your PSP. (Maybe your PSP needs some antacid ... ?)

The film comes in widescreen format, which is important to all of us cinephiles out there, getting the full intended visual approach of horrormeister Sam Raimi. And, of course, what ever technology freak will demand is also here: DVD quality picture.

Anchor Bay has taken the hardcore horror punch of your Evil Dead II DVD and put it in your PSP.

There's only one thing to say.

"Groovy!"
