Genociety

Genociety

Aah, thrash metal from Germany. It's as powerful and hope-raising as hearing "black metal from Norway" or "melodic death from Sweden". From the first riffs onward, Bitterness proudly show off the lessons learned from their Teutonic thrash ancestors - favoriting double kick rhythms above all. After about two songs, it's dawning on me that the plain "thrash" label doesn't do justice to the band, really. Tracks like "Down In Flames" and "Dehumanized" have strongly mutated towards a medley of thrash, melodic black (think Dissection) and melodic death.
"Genociety" is one of those rarer promos that's actually more than one step above average. So for once, I wouldn't have minded the strict obedience to a genre's set of rules - nobody complains over a solid, pure thrash album. Bitterness, however, takes it a step further than mixing Teutonic and Bay Area thrash. These guys will take you over the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea - a journey where you'll encounter old school styles in a modern jacket. Worth your while.
