The time has come to envy the dead

The time has come to envy the dead

Hungarian act Archaic release their first studio effort since their 2004 inception (well, the band released it in 2006 already, but you know Vic Records by now). I'm not going to mention the album name even once here; don't want to get the review all cluttered up with an eight-word title. Seriously though, the band puts the pedal to the metal and delivers intense thrash - nothing more, nothing less. Like all worthy composers of the genre, these guys seem to have got a grasp of thrash's essence: slow passages should have that menacing, or at least impending undertone; the up-tempo bursts are simply warfare, as ferocious and relentless as can be. This trinity of thrash does a compelling job on the whole; for those who are accustomed to the nervous and aggressive modern style, Archaic's hymns are a dulcet experience.
