Ruiner

I guess what most impresses me about AWS - at least what caught my ear first, and quickly - is the way the band so seamlessly and with seeming effortlessness creates such a hybrid without the stitches being seen. There’s so much filling your ear here as AWS plays. Certainly there’s no arguing the strong punk and hardcore roots of the band. Melodies aside, you can easily grasp the old school aggro sounds from which sprang this. But speaking of melodies, emo is represented with heart-tinged songwriting that pours from the soul, with instrumentals and vocals both pulling at your spirit (though the vocals also hint toward the grittier punk/hardcore sound at times). There are also definite metal flourishes punctuating the energy and insistence of a band that has managed to find a bit of its own personality in an exploding genre.
