This has got to be one of the most unique records on Metal Blade's roster. In fact, I'm a little surprised to hear it here as it's so out of place given the label mates by which it's surrounded. But, hey, Metal Blade certainly has shown its aptitude in the area of revealing to the public bands of originality to the public, even if they don't fit the death and power metal most commonly associated with the label. 3 has so much going on I can't even say it's metal at the core, though metal is certainly present in the mix. There are lots of bands with a metal core from which the band surprisingly expands into areas of unexpected influence, but with 3, there's simply multiple and disparate influences working together with no one style standing as the root of the music. This is true eclecticism and s pleasant surprise issuing from die-hard metal label. For one thing, there's gobs and gobs of acoustic guitar, though the instrumentation by no means begins and ends there. There are electric moments of metal energy, for sure. But there are also heavy injections of indie rock, emo, folk, alternative, adult contemporary ... hell, you name it. I'm at a loss for further descriptions. You'll just have to listen for yourself.
