For those not paying attention, 12 Stones is probably more known for its lead singer being featured on Evanescence's first big single. However, the band is, in fact, a band unto itself and is about to release its next CD, "Potter's Field," a crisp piece of aggro melody that befits the Wind-Up sound. I've written before about how there are a number of lesser known Wind-Up artists worth attention and you can add 12 Stones to that list. There are smooth grooves that carry the music along while the guitars have just the right dose of distortion to keep them heady but not messy. At the core of the songs are strong melodies, carried out with talent by the instrumentalists while the front man presents a well-honed singing voice to complete the sound. 12 Stones is another band for Wind-Up fans to seek out. If all you've heard is Seether, Evanescence and Creed, you're missing out. Check 'em out.
