OUT THE GATE offers not only cultural consciousness raising but also a touch of tension with the suspense angle to this human drama about a Jamaican musician who leaves his homeland behind him and places his hope in the States. His hope doesn’t betray him – at first. He discovers success as a Dancehall Artist (did I mention there’s also a musical component to this for those who dig music movies?) and even falls in love, but his success only serves to draw the attention of an LA crime lord.
