Spokanarchy (MVD/Carnage & Rouge)

MVD and CARNAGE & ROUGE unleash a peeled-back look at back-in-the-day punk through one of its microcosms. In this case, the microcosm is Spokane, Washington – specifically the “small-town punk scene” that grew up there and jammed its hate at Reagan-era ideals through the stages of said scene. There’s more than just the expected interviews. SPOKANARCHY also tosses a loud salad of previously unreleased rawk moozik. Plus, there’s the anthropology of it. Here’s your chance to see punk outside its stereotypical big-city scene. This isn’t urban kids; this is kids from the burbs and the little city arena, but lashing out just as hard at the man as any of the punk peeps elsewhere. Bonus features include trailer and outtakes, slideshows (the flyers and ‘zines are apt to induce nostalgia) and a pair of short films, one of which is “Go Fuck Yourself,” which was banned from YouTube. Too bad, YouTube.
